You're one of the finest art directors I've ever worked with, not just for your superior talents as a designer but equally for your fine sensibilities as a person. Brad Holland / illustrator, fine artist
Good art direction elevates great talent to the apex of an idea.
As an art director, Deborah Lawrence first put her passion behind brand identity work for clients such as Christian Dior (for Hartmarx), Joseph Abboud, Bang & Olufsen, Harris Bank, Sears, McDonald’s (bottled water), Alberto Culver, Sheraton Hotels, Stone Container, American Express, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Follett, the Smithsonian Quarterly (design Launch), and more.
Desiring to make a difference, she embraced the nonprofit world at Rotary International. As Creative Director of its magazine, she wrote and designed print and online campaigns for polio eradication, peace and conflict resolution, the impact of water and sanitation on world health, to name a few.
Her role in raising the publisher’s national profile was recognized by FOLIO, Communication Arts, Society of Publication Designers, ASME (American Society of Magazine Editors), MIN (Media Industry News), and EXCEL (Association Media and Publishing). Deborah attained over 40 of the industry's top awards.
She has had the rare privilege to work with iconic artists and photographers such as Milton Glaser, Brad Holland, Guy Billout, Sebastião Salgado, Harry Benson, Carol Guzy, David Kennerly, Art Wolfe, on and on…
Founding her own company, D'Bee, LLC, Deborah designed, edited, and published a series of visual quotation books, Lessons Learned in Nature, under her brand Quotes for Life. Lessons Learned in Nature is an elegant solution to gift giving and fundraising, with words that evoke refreshment in the context of profound beauty.
